EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Hi,

I ran a clean install of EPO 5.1.0  and can login to the console.

At the login screen it shows me that the agent handler service is not running.

I have tried starting the Mcafee Epolicy 5.1.0 server service however I get an error.

The server is a clean box with no extra addons or vscans at themoment.

My event log shows this:

Faulting application name: Apache.exe version 2.2.2.0

Faulting Module Name: MSVCR100.dll, version:10.0.3019.1

Exception code: 0xc0000005.

I have looked around and have seen people having these issues when upgrading, however this s a clean install.

My apache log shows this entry:

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

This looks like a problem with the certificates used internally within ePO - at a guess the certificate(s) were not created correctly during the install. As it's a clean install I strongly suggest uninstalling and reinstalling again, and see if the problem persists.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Thanks Joe,

This is actually the 3rd uninstall and reinstall  so far.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Can you zip up and attach all the logs from the ..\DB\Logs folder and ..\Server\logs folder, along with a directory listing of the ePO install folders?

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Hey Joe,

Thanks for your reply.

I was on a support call late yesterday with Mcafee.

I am going to blow away this box and try installing on another vanilla machine, this time with no major updates.

Still a bit strange.

Also why is 5.1.0 making reference to 8.3 short names? I thought that was deprecated a long time ago.

No worries will let you know how it goes in the next 60mins.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

OK, sounds good

The 8.3 naming convention is a requirement of Apache, which is a major part of apache. I'd imagine the requirement will be removed in later versions, but that's just a guess.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Looks like this is a strange case. Nothing close to a solution found yet found yet. Will keep you posted.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

I installed on a server 2012 box and it works fine. There maybe something wrong with my server 2008 R2 server image. I will create a new image and template and see if it works, but for now everything seems ok.

Re: EPO 5.1.0 Successful install but Agent Handler Service not running

Thanks for letting us know - I'd be interested if it works OK on your new image as well, if you have a moment.

Thanks -

Hi Joe,

I've been a bit busy but I will be making a new image and hopefully will have an answer for you by the end of next week.
