Upon registering components the install rolls back.

I just cant fathom why a semi new piece of software is on patch 2 with 120 some resolutions so far.

CustomAction: MerMod_RemoveFilesForPatch

Okay, this would imply that the installer was unable to create a safety backup of the original jar. I would guess this is because E:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\Common\lib\orion-core-common.bak already exists - is this the case? If so, move it to a temporary folder somewhere and try the install again. (If there are any other .bak files in the lib folder, move them as well.)

btw, should I be concerned with this?

Property(S): UnableToRemoveDatabase = Setup was not able to delete the database as part of the uninstall process.

No, that's just an informational message logged by the MSI.

Thanks for that, now it goes a little further. Having a little trouble finding the actual error this time as the txt file will not a failure on one line and then another failure 40 lines down.  Here is the last.

Property(S): PROGMSG_IIS_ROLLBACKWEBSERVICEEXTENSIONS = Rolling back web service extensions...
Property(S): PackageCheckinRetry = Setup has failed while trying to check-in a package to the repository.
Property(S): ProductBuildNumber = 919
Property(S): ProductCode = {474A7C22-C823-401B-A52C-26D876957E5E}

Re: EPO 4.5 patch 2, anyone have success installing?

Lines that start with Property(s) aren't actual errors - they're the strings that would be displayed if that error condition existed.

Can you post the msi log file?

Can you zip it and post it? It's only a text file - it should compress quite nicely

Re: EPO 4.5 patch 2, anyone have success installing?

No problem

In these MSI logs, the easiest way to find the actual error(s) is to search for the string FAILURE:  (note the colon.) In this case, we get this:

FAILURE: In LaunchAppAndWait while trying to run the following program:
"E:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\Installer\Core\install.bat"

Return code: 1
Error Message: Incorrect function.

If we look a the line before the failure, it tells us what it was trying to do:

ANT Command line set as follows: "E:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\Installer\Core\install.bat" -Duser.language=en -Duser.country=US  upgrade -logfile "C:\DOCUME~1\DEMAPO~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\McAfeeLogs\EPO450-Troubleshoot\MFS\core-patch.log"

which in turn tells us that the log for this operation is the core-patch.log. Can you post that file?

Thanks -

Joe
