Duplicate systems when certain columns are enabled

Jump to solution

EPO shows multiple systems as duplicates as soon as the column "product version (endpoint security)" is enabled - they are not real duplicates as it behaves similiar to this post

https://community.mcafee.com/t5/ePolicy-Orchestrator/EPO-not-showing-system-duplicated-in-Queries/td...

How can we solve this? I really need these columns to be displayed.

Problem solved:

- remove everything using enterprise removal tool

- delete mcafee related keys at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products (without this step I was not able to reinstall agent and extensions)

- reinstall agent and extensions via epo and run update

system is up to date and does not show up as duplicate anymore

Hi Technf,

What version of ePO, ENS and its extensions are you using please?

The 'ePO' interface you view will be driven in part by the extensions you have.

They present the various elements the products need and use to allow the product to be managed and reported upon.
It maybe the extension is in need of an update to a newer release!

Hi

Should've thought about posting the versions:

ePO-Build: ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 (Build 2428)
Endpoint Security-Plattform: 10.6.1.1146
Endpoint Security-Bedrohungsschutz: 10.6.1.1107
Endpoint Security-Firewall: 10.6.1.1088
Endpoint Security-Webkontrolle: 10.6.1.1089

I can see there is an update 10.6.1.1279 available for ENS - should this solve the issue?

Thanks

I do not believe any ENS extension is going to resolve this, as this is basically as designed.  When you add certain non-default columns, it pulls in those additional properties, but may have to add it on a different line, mapping the different properties to the same system.

I think the issue is that multiple product versions are stored for one system, which I'm trying to solve now by removing and reinstalling / enforcing the correct version.

I'll report back once this is done

No worries Technf!

Regarding ePO, you report 5.10, what update version is that please?

login to ePO, Menu > server settings > server information.
(Top of the page will offer an update number, Update 1, 2, 3?)

As to that build number, I'm told that version is part of the MAY update release:

Endpoint Security 10.6.1 May Update Release Notes
Product Documentation ID:   PD28351

As such a valid update to get and install!

To add, as I was speaking with the ENS team, they suggested this would be a matter for them to review as an extension matter, If this update does not help.
They asked that you call in to have them review the matter for you!

It's Update 3

As stated in my previous reply (posted just a minute before yours) I think there is worng information stored for these systems, because I see the duplicate entries having different product versions. I'm about to reinstall the latest versions on one of the duplicate systems and see if this solves it.

😀 post timing can be fun! I spotted 'both' replies after I posted ! 😀

Removing any extension to re-add it will reinstall/refresh/associate (reset if you wish) the extensions as cdinet suggested !

Past cases dealing with unexpected extension behavior has shown this to be a sound activity to perform to address such matter!

Re: Duplicate systems when certain columns are enabled

I removed and re-added the extensions and first even re-installed the agent (forcing latest version) but the system still shows as duplicate in epo. As I said, it shows multiple versions for product version (endpoint security) and also for other products. The information screen on the system locally shows that the latest versions of these extensions are installed, so there must be orphaned data in the epo db.

I even tried removing the system alltogether from epo and re-adding it, without success. My plan is to do a complete removal locally using the mcafee removal tool and then re-deploy everything, however I don't expect this to solve anything since the wrong data seems to be on epo side.

Any advice? Or should I just contact the support?

thanks

Hi Technf,

Please make sure to reboot the devise before any re-installs are performed.

Let us know how you get on!
