Deploy Agent 5.5.1.388 from MSI

Jump to solution

Hi All!

Trying to create Agent deploy configuration for SCCM by this manuals

https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/agent-5.5.0-product-guide-epolicy-orchestrator/page/GUID-DB4C8D95-5A0...

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB89861

https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/agent-5.5.1-installation-guide-epolicy-orchestrator/page/GUID-F4EBD8E...

When I run FramePkg.exe which was downloaded from ePO - everything fine

When I using this command

Framepkg.exe /gengpomsi /SiteInfo=\\servername\sharedfolder\SiteList.xml /FrmInstLogLoc=C:\windows\temp\MAGPO.log

to create MSI installer, I recieve the next files:

srpubkey.bin

sr2048pubkey.bin

Sitelist.xml

reqseckey.bin

req2048seckey.bin

MFEagent_x64.msi

MFEagent.msi

agentfipsmode

Then, for test purposes I'm running the MFEagent_x64.msi or MFEagent.msi files (Win 10 x64 1809) and installation complete without errors. Agent icon appears in system tray.

But in this case Agent installing without Monitor an in Unmanaged mode.

What I do wrong?

Thanks for reply.
Really, don't understend my steps.
1. Run command for creating MSI installer Framepkg.exe /gengpomsi /SiteInfo=\\rgcserver\temp1\SiteList.xml /FrmInstLogLoc=C:\windows\temp\MAGPO.log
2. Deploy Agent to workstations
3. After that run maconfig -managed?

Is this only one system that failed to be in managed mode or all?  If one or a few, you can run this command or redeploy the agent from epo.

Change directory to where maconfig is located in admin command prompt.

maconfig -provision -managed -dir <Path of location containing agentfipmode, srpubkey.bin, eqseckey.bin, sr2048pubkey.bin, req2048seckey.bin, Sitelist.xml>

All systems.

We have the old version of Agent MSI installer (5.5.1.342), and it deployed already in managed mode and PC appears on ePO. But any solution/howto/manuals was not saved from my predecessors how to do this MSI. Now we upgrading Win 10 to 1809 build, and there is a need for an updated installer with a newer version. I has try to create the new MSI installer, according to McAffe documentation, but failed.

What are the failures?  What are your exact steps for what you are doing?  You should not need to reprovision the agent, as the msi should install it in managed mode.  So if it isn't working right, we would need to see install logs, etc.  You might need to open a ticket with McAfee for us to look at the data.  We don't want you to  post anything on public forums with sensitive info that logs contain.

Thanks for the answer

There are no fails with installation.

The Agent 5.5.1.388 is installed from MSI through the SCCM manager successfully. The fail is that it is installed in the status "Unmanaged" and computers with installed Agent do not appear on the ePO in general.

I'm indicated my steps in the first post.

With the old version of MSI installer, everything is fine and I not understand, how to do the same with the new Agent MSI Installer.

It is supposed to work the same as with the other versions.  Is it creating all these files and are all those files in the same directory as the msi?  There would have to be a provisioning error in the logs even with a successful agent install.  You should see several logs - maconfig.log and mfeagent.msi.datetimestamp.log.

Sitelist.xml

sr2048pubkey.bin

srpubkey.bin

req2048seckey.bin

reqseckey.bin

mfeagent.msi

agentfipsmode

The maconfig.log would contain something like this with a successful provisioning:

2019-02-07 11:32:12.103 maconfig(5168.6436) maconfig.Info: installing site list in both managed and unmanaged modes
