Confused - Backing ePO4.5 & Upgrading ePO4.6.1

Jump to solution

I'm trying to backup ePO4.5 and perform an upgrade to ePO4.6.1. Server OS, Windows 2003, will remain unchanged.

However, i'm already stumped at the Backup stage of ePO4.5.

I was also looking at options to backup my database via SQL Server 2005 from article https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB59855 , i got stuck on this command - sqlcmd -E -S servername\instancename -Q "BACKUP DATABASE ePO4_servername TO DISK = 'c:\backupdirectory\test' WITH INIT, SKIP"

I kept getting command line errors. How should the actual backup command look like base on the following:

Server Computer Name - itsvcsmcafee.domain.com

McAfee Database Settings

Database server name - ITSVCSMCAFEE

Database server instance - EPOSERVER

Database server port - 1155

Database name - ePO4_ITSVCSMCAFEE

My path to McAfee ePO is - C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator

Your help is much appreciated

PS - I am tempted to upgrade straight away without backup first. Is this advisable?

One question that would affect which way it's done is what version of SQL are you using Full suite or SQL Express.

If it's express I would suggest doing it in stages

c:\>OSQL -E -S ITSVCSMCAFEE\EPOSERVER

1>BACKUP DATABASE ePO4_ITSVCSMCAFEE TO DISK = 'c:\temp\backup060212.bck' WITH INIT, SKIP

2>go

If your using the Full SQL server then just use the Management console to backup the database

sorry. but how do i check which SQL version i have currently in my system?

I believe while installing ePO4.5, the installer auto installed SQL 2005 for me. Is that the express version?
