Client Computer Name Change (ePO 4.5)

Jump to solution

Hello!

Question in reference to changing a clients computer name.

If a managed systems "Computer Name" is changed, will this be reflected back to the ePO server when the agent reports in?  Better yet, is there a manual process that can be performed to initiate the name change process so that its updated on the ePO sever immediately?

Thank you!

ePO would use a value called the AgentGUID to uniquely identify a system in the ePO system tree. As long as this GUID value is not changed (for e.g. by forceinstalling the agent or reinstalling the OS), the system tree is updated with the new name during next Agent Server Communication. The AgentGUID is stored under this Registry Key: HKLM\Software\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\Agent\AgentGUID
