Cant't access Epo Webinterface Version 4.6.0 -

Jump to solution

Dear community,

I can't access the Webinterface of the ePO anymore. If I try I get this error message:

"An unexpected error occurred while trying to handle your request."

I tried restarting all the McAfee Services and the server running the ePO but that didn't work.

My Orion log:

As you know, epo 4.6 is no longer in support.  However, in that state, you can't upgrade.  Did you possibly try to upgrade an extension and it failed?  Patch 6 is the last version to be supported in epo 4.6, so don't try to upgrade to any higher extension.  It is also the lowest build supported in epo 5.3.

2019-05-13 09:46:14,556 WARN [Thread-1] tasks.TaskGlobals - The extension xxVIRUSCAN8800 is in a partially installed state.

Check the version it is expecting in the orionextensions table in the database for VirusScan.  Then stop epo services and follow these steps.

If the ePO database lists a lower version (for example, 1.2.0.148) and the file system lists a higher version (for example, 1.2.0.236):

  1. Change the XML file to match the lower version:

    <Context docBase="D:/ePolicy Orchestrator/Server/Extensions/installed/<extension_name>/<build_number>/webapp" privileged="true" antiResourceLocking="false" antiJARLocking="false" />

    Example: <Context docBase="D:/ePolicy Orchestrator/Server/Extensions/installed/VIRUSCANREPORTS/1.2.0.148/webapp" privileged="true" antiResourceLocking="false" antiJARLocking="false" />

  2. Ensure that a folder for the lower version exists (for example, <ePO_installation_directory>\Server\Extensions\installed\VIRUSCANREPORTS\1.2.0.148) and then delete the folder with the higher version:

    <ePO_installation_directory>\Server\Extensions\installed\<extension_name>\<build_number>

    Example: <ePO_installation_directory>\Server\Extensions\installed\VIRUSCANREPORTS\1.2.0.236

Hi cdinet,

thanks for your reply. As it seems another admin tried to update the installation only to tell me today about it....

I am gonna scrub the installation and start new. Thanks again for your help.

If you are scrubbing it and starting fresh, please go with 5.9.1 or 5.10 preferably with Update3.  4.6, 5.1 and 5.3 are end of life.
