Best way to deploy an agent

Is the best method to deploy the McAfee Agent to your machines via a group policy or software deployment tool like SMS, or is there a new preferred method?

Why would you not use ePO to deploy it? thats what its there for.

RE: Best way to deploy an agent

Pushing the agent under 4.5 isn't providing me any information as to expired pushes, it doesn't tell me why it expired and it doesn't tell me which machines it expired for.

Another downside is ePO just pushes and hopes the machine is out there, it's not a very efficient way to deploy.

RE: Best way to deploy an agent

I agree that it will only work when a machine is online.
But the sub task part of the server task log will tell you which machines it failed to send to, and there are a multitude of ways that you report on, and try resending agents to machines that dont have agents on them, but I do see where you are coming from.

RE: Best way to deploy an agent

We use SMS for Mass Deployments and EPO for minimal/limited deployments.

You can use rogue sensors to deploy and just make the push occur if the machine is detected within so many minutes.
