i'm also looking for a way to enable artemis at "very low" in an epo managed enviroment for on-demand scans, but i can't find it.
i've got the newest extension installed.
Well, I opened the VirusScan console and Full Scan default task from there, and set on Performance tab Heuristic network check for suspicious files to Medium and clicked on Save As Default button. This is the button to save default settings for future on-demand scans we create.
Does it work for you?
As for ePO, I think this cannot be achieved so simply, it has to be set everytime you create a managed on-demand scan task.
hi, on the endpoint, i can enable artemis for ODS like you described it.
in ePO, i can enable it for e-mail and OAS scanning, but i can't tune anything for ODS..
i've got extension 22.214.171.124 installed...
No you cannot, because in ePO an ondemand scan task is a client task which is not regulated/controlled by extensions (i.e. not policy based). You need to define one for every specific scan need :-(
You cannot even copy it :-((
I'm surprised that you dig out this topic ;-)
Answer is simple – in 4.5 it is possible to define on demand scan with any Artemis level.
I'm don't know if McAfee provided this ability also for 4.0
my answer applied to D-Fens's question, sorry we have yet to cover yours. I really did not get your idea of question 1. could you rephrase it once more?
As for your question 2, if I getit right, you want to install VirusScan where every on-demand scan created by users will have the same level of artemis in them.
Am I right?
If yes, then I would say you need Installation Designer 8.7, customize VirusScan installation set for ePo 4.0, and in the section where on.-demand scans can be tailored, specify heuristic network check level to what is wanted and click on Save as default, then select Replace existing tasks on system radio button in the Installation Designer section.
I can't remember literally the text/titles but I hope you get the logic.
Thanks for direction regarding 2)
Referring to my question 1) ePO report shows status of Artemis (off, very low low etc... ) during last on demand scan. I would like to have information when Artemis was in use last time.
example (this is example and does not refer to real setup)
I’m running scanning of whole env on Friday morning.
Report rum immediately after scan shows that all boxes were running Artemis low during this scan.
this seems to me ok.
But some users obtained some files run scanning of them on Friday afternoon.
They use on-demand scan – but did not turn on Artemis.
So ePO would show that some boxes did not use Artemis – if I’ll use dashboards some of them would be red/incompliant, whatever…
From my perspective I would rather define report which would answer questions.
Was Artemis in use during last scheduled job?
Was Artemis in use during last week?
Hope it’s more clear now.Message was edited by: palbr on 2/23/10 10:03:53 AM GMT+01:00
