Where/how to get agent installer. Do I have to create it from ePO or can I just install it from McAfee's Product Download page and provide my grant number.
I would PUSH the McAfee Agent from your ePO server, using the IP address of the non-domain machine, as I described earlier.
Alternatively, copy the agent install to the machine in question and run it interactively. You can find it in your ePO server, @ \Program Files (x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409\FramePkg.exe
Do you have instructions on how to push it from the ePO server via IP Address? I'm always use to having the machine in ePO then Actions>Agent>Deploy Agent
Just for info, this does not work with the default settings of the windows firewall, because Remote Access to the endpoint will be blocked.
You may check this.
first of all, McAfee Agent is an normal installer package and is installed by the Windows Installer. The package includes the FQDN name and IP from the EPO Server. Also the sitelist including any agent handler or repository.
Windows Authentication: If the Agent is installed on the system it is absolutely unimportant if the system is a domain member or not. The whole Agent authentication with EPO is certificate based.
You only need an authentication on the endpoint if you want to deploy (push) the agent remotely.
I tried to do the same with a machine not in domain and found that the system is showing up in EPO server......means its getting communicated to server
in the System Tree you can add the row "last communication" and "Managed State". There you can see in detail the state of the communication.
Download the new ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Support Center Extension which simplifies ePO management and provides support resources directly in the console. Learn more about ePO Support Center
