Thanks Seacat. I only needed to delete the registry key containing "MSIAgent.msi" for it to work for me. I have about 43 (out of approximately 1500) that failed to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.5. Deleting the registry key was the "key".
I know this is an old post, but this is what I did incase someone needs another solusion.
1. Install the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility" "msicuu2.exe".
2. Run the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility".
3. Locate the McAfee agent in the list of applications and remove it.
4. Restart the machine and then install the new McAfee agent.
