AMcore is not updating on few systems

Hi,

I have a situation, in which the AMcore is not updating on few systems.

The client update task is completed successfully.

Although going on the AMcore, you see that the AMcore is not updated.

After checking the Mcscript_error logs, the only error that i am getting is

Downloading file from http://xxxx/Software/SiteStat.xml to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SiteStat.xml failed.

So i though it might be a MA issue, as some another managed by the ePo worked fines.

Re-installed the MA, still the same problem.

when updated from the endpoint by going to McAfee security update it worked.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Please see https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB54474

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

When you try from the EPO server to update, is there a user logged in?

If not and it fails...can you log in and then re-run from EPO the update.

Can you check your repository policy for the agent on that machine and tell me what the option you have for the PROXY tab, is it use system proxy or NO PROXY selected?

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

Hi,

which version of ENS you are running? I remember having this issue in the past with an older version, but not with agent 5.x and ENS 10.5.3.x.

Check if the three Agent Services are running properly. If nothing helps, try to uninstall it with the McAfee removal tool - and reinstall.

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

ENS 10.2, 10.3

MA 5.0.2, 5.0.3

this behaviour is with 1/10 of the endpoints.

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

several 5.x versions have issues with updates, running tasks, and scheduler issues, which are fixed in 5.0.6 agent.  Please test that version, if possible.  If not, then the masvc.log under c:\programdata\mcafee\agent\logs will show if the task invoked or not.  If it did, then the mcscript log will show the errors for it updating, which are typically unable to get the files from the repositories.

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

But the client task is completed, and still we don't see an update on the endpoint.

If we do it manually on the endpoint by going to McAfee system tray/update security, it worked.

Re: AMcore is not updating on few systems

Please check the masvc log for when the task invoked.  Then find that time frame in the mcscript log.  You will follow that update process through the log to see if it was able to pull the content from the repository or not.  If it doesn't even attempt to reach any repository or there is no corresponding time frame in the mcscript lot, then please test the 5.0.6 agent.

Agree on Cdinet . With the change from 5.0.5 onward , we should see better performance from Agent Prospective.
