how to rollback from agent 4.5 to 4.0 using ePo v4.0

I have ePo v.40 running on windows 2003 server:

1. mcafee agent v4.5

2. Antivirus 8.7i with patch 3

3. Windows 7 & XP

My q: how to remove mcafee agent v4.5 and replace with mcafee agent v4.0 from the ePo v4.0 ?

Even when I install patch 3 on all windows 7 i though this will fix all problems but it did not, still users on windows 7 cannot see mcafee antivirus icon on system par.

Please advise..

Re: how to rollback from agent 4.5 to 4.0 using ePo v4.0

Not only Windows7 are missing the icon. Also Windows XP. But McAfee doesn’t believe me, and telling me over and over again to enable the option in the policy to show icon. 😞

To downgrade the agent, there is no option in ePO. You can do it with a script.

In the setup folder McAfee\Common Frameworks you’ll find frminst.exe. If you run this with /forceuninstall

the McAfee Agent will be uninstalled, but remember to change your task in ePO, so the right version

of the agent will be installed.

Hope this help you.
