Yep, you're right.  I forgot about the 4GB limit - my database isn't usually big enough to bump into that, but right now %PROGRAMFILES%\mcafee\ePO\DB\Events\Debug has about 12GB of messed-up event files in it, and SQL must have coughed up furballs dealing with that.  So, thanks for the help - I'm off to clean up a database.
