ePO in a non-production environment

Jump to solution

Hi everyone

Is it a good idea to stand up a non-production ePO server with a few systems to test updates, changes etc? Are there any issues we would run into?  The reason I ask is we are going to install update 9 for ePO 5.10. I was asked if we have tested the update. No, we have not, we have no way to test with a test environment.  Will ePO play nice with a second ePO server on the network?

Thanks

There will be no conflict with more than one epo server on network.  Agents will connect to one or the other, but not both.  So for test clients on the test server, you would need to install the agent from that test epo server.

Hello @Quint

Thanks for your post.

I would like to inform you that, Yes you can have a test environment for testing the updates.

We have seen customers having test environment for testing purpose.

Having said that this is completely customers choice.

Also if you don't want to have any test environment and wanted to have testing  in your production in that case please have the backup of the ePO Server and ePO Database with the help of the KB66616.
