Looking for some step by step for this process to make sure I don't miss anything.
I have a current 5.91 Environment and I have just completed a new separate Single Server Installation of 5.10 on new servers.
After the initial installation, I need to make sure I dont miss anything before begining the migration over process.
1. Server installed and Updated to latest patches.
What tasks should be done prior to adding it to the 5.91 enviornment to migrate over?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes, permission sets, but no to users. You would have to set up your users and assign the appropriate permission sets.

Hello,
please refer the KB79283 for system transfer and KB88822 for policy migration.

I see those two.
Other questions.
After adding new ePO Server to Registered Servers, do I need to do any of this? Or does that get added to it by joining.
Once the server is registered then only you can transfer the systems from one epo to another epo.
You can check-in the same versions or latest version in new epo.
Extensions should be the same or latest version.
Systems will come flat in the system tree after doing the transfer.
Provided KB is only for the system transfer from one ePO to another ePO.
Rest you need to perform.
Thanks
Things you can export from old to import into new:
systems and system tree structure
tags
task and policy assignments
server tasks
queries/dashboards
policy assignment rules
I would make sure once you import tasks and assignments, go into each task and ensure the right settings are applied (you would need same software in repository also for deployment tasks) and make sure if you are assigning by tags, that the right tags are assigned. I would set up system tree, assignments, policies, etc first before transferring any systems.
You cannot export system tree sorting, registered servers, agent handler assignments, users.

Some great answers for some of this.
Links in the publications info around computers with Encryption are broken.
Note the 2 hyperlinks from the KB are broken.
DE 7.1 Update 3 (7.1.3) provides the ePO administrator with a new capability. This feature allows systems to be transferred from one ePO server to another while preserving user assignments and user data. For details, see the following documentation:
7.1 was EOL in 2019. Current version links for transfer guide is in KB83186.

When you select export Systems from System Tree actions, what does that do exactly?
It exports just a list of the systems and system tree structure that you can import into new epo. It doesn't delete anything from old, just adds placeholders in the new and creates the system tree structure according to the imported list.

Can you move Users and Permission sets from one ePO Server to another?
