ePO 5.3 to 5.9 struggles

Jump to solution

We are trying to update our epo 5.3.x to 5.9 and thru multiple tries we managed to grab log of what's failing..  I think problem is somewhere here... after this fails the rollback starts..

We even moved db to temporary server and enabled the RSA SQL encryption like we were told to so by the verification tool and still failing .. I don't think one is somehow related to another.

So the plot has thickened.. the tool that suppose to verify that everything is good just failed badly.. our 2014 SQL server on 2008 suppose to have KB2919355 which is 2012 Server KB from 2004.... who write this stuff.. below is ePIPAPI.log

524 2017-03-28 02:57:42 I Exiting  'CheckSQLForceEncryptionEnabled', result 3

5524 2017-03-28 02:57:42 I Entering 'CheckIfWindowsIsPatchedForRSA'

5524 2017-03-28 02:57:56 I Command is executed.

5524 2017-03-28 02:57:56 I SQL Server is not patched with KB2919355

5524 2017-03-28 02:57:56 I Exiting  'CheckIfWindowsIsPatchedForRSA', result 4

Re: ePO 5.3 to 5.9 struggles

after wasting whole week with useless technical support we ended up following this article McAfee Corporate KB - How to transfer/move computers from one ePolicy Orchestrator server to another...  and fixed issue our-self..

in summary.. Installed clean 5.9 ePO with new database on new VMWare... created trust between 5.3 and 5.9 after exporting keys and all the policies and migrating them to new ePO we moved all assets from old 5.3 to 5.9... full day of work but at least i'm not wasting more time dealing with McAfee support..
