Yuo have however found the problem 🙂 I think my standard username has not managed to pick up EPO_Admin rights, which should be easily fixed. BIt surprised that a standard user can edit and save the synch settings if it's then not going to let them actually synch however.

You're right, I didn't realize you were not logged as admin as the LDAP rights have to be assigned to new users.
