ePO 4.5, agent 4.0 and windows 7 problems

Jump to solution

Hi

I recently upgraded our ePO server from 4.0 to 4.5 and with it came agent 4.0.

Most of our workstations are windows XP SP3 and everything is working just excellent there, but we also have a few computers running Windows 7 and that's where we run into a minor problem.

I can install the agent just fine and agent wakeup call reports no errors but for some reason no policy updates come through. I did downgrade the agent to 3.6 which resulted in policy upgrades coming through but of course I want to have the latest and the greatest.

Are there known compatability issues with windows 7 and workarounds?

Policies for VSE 8.7i and HIPS7 won't apply unless you're running Patch2 for VSE 8.7i and at least Patch5 for HIPS.

You will also need to recreate deployment/scan tasks as necessary in order for them to work.

It's best to do a search for windows 7 in this forum..there's lots of discussion on how people have tackled the issues that have popped up.

Kristinn,

I agree with the previous comment. I would only add that the extension for VSE8.7 patch 2 will be reposted on November 24 to resolve an issue we were seeing with access protection policies. Be sure an download this newer version to avoid any possible problems. See KB67452  on 11-24-2009  login at http://mysupport.mcafee.com

thanks

William

...or use the VSE extensions included with the patch2-only file...version 8.7.0.171 (just make sure it's not 8.7.0.174) and the reporting extension included with 87ip2 repost.

Pretty sure you have to create new tasks for deployment and make sure your at Patch 2 for VSE and have the proper extensions installed.  You should do a search for Windows 7 in this discussion board as these issues have been discussed numerous times.  It's been so long now I can't remember
