cluster or single epo server?

Hi heroes,

I'm working on a mcafee AV project with around 7k nodes - only ENSTP will be managed by ePO.

Currently, I'm a little unsure if we need to create a ePO cluster or just use a single epo server.

Personally I prefer just using a single epo server(with agent handlers and some DRs): considering there has only ENS managed, even epo/ah is down and the data(threat events) is lost, it looks acceptable, and in the meantime, the overall architecture is more simplified.

Can you share some ideas/experience about this... thanks!!

Re: cluster or single epo server?

Single epo server is ok in most of cases, the most important part is the: SQL server, backup of the SQL server daily ePO snapshot into the database and the ePO security keys.

You can do a epo server restore within 2 hours if the SQL servers is up and ePO snapshot backup was succesful.

I did this multiple times during ePO server OS replacements

Re: cluster or single epo server?

Hello @User21257322

Thanks for your post.

Ideally the ePO should work here, We have seen several customers having only ePO with 7K or + machines, but still you want you you can implement Distributed Repository or Agent Handler.

Please make sure that you are taking a regular backup of the ePO Server and ePO Database.

If in case something goes wrong so you can restore it quickly.

Re: cluster or single epo server?

You will get 'Fail over' mechanism if wants to use ePO on windows cluster.
