Our current ePO 4.6 server is running a 32 bit version of Windows 2003. The database is SQL Express 2005. The server is running as a VM (virtiual machine) on a VmWare cluster. Currently, our environment is not managed by Active Directory so we have to manually install the ePO agent on new systems.
Looking at the upcoming ePO 5.0, it seems to mention that it only support Windows 2008 and above.
Trying to figure out the best way of upgrading our ePO server from m32 bit Windows 2003 to 2008 R2 64 bit. We have to also make sure that the clients continue to comuunicate after the upgrade as we don't have the man power to manually fix broken agents.
Has anyone tried an inplace upgrade from 2003 to 2008 R2 64 bit? If so, is there any documentation or advice.
My gut feeling is that it would be better to perform a clean install, but want to make sure that current workstations still communicate back to the new server. Are there any steps to perform to make sure the workstations continue to communicate.
This McAfee KB article is probably your closest match fo documentation.
KB71078 - How to migrate ePO 4.5 or ePO 4.6 from a 32-bit system to a 64-bit system (or to a different installation path).
I just followed this process yesterday, upgrading our LAB epo, from Server 2003 32bit to Server 2008R2 64bit. I followed the KB exactly, and the Event Parser and Apache Services will not start.
I have gone through the KB 2 times now, and not sure what the issue is. Looks like a call to Platinum Support. I was hoping these forums would have more information.
Just install the ePo on a new server & Add the server to the current Enviroment.
Migrate or shift all the client to the new Server, Export the policies from Old server & import it in a new server.
If Reuired i can send u the detailed Doc.
Thanx & Regards
