I have Epo server 5.9 with several machines having Mcafee agent 5.0.5 and drive encryption 7.2.1 , these machines have Windows 10 1703 , i updated one of them to Windows 10 1709 (Fall creator update),
i see in mcafee website that DE 7.2.1 is not compatible with Win10 1709 so i have to install DE 7.2.2 in my machines, my question is :
If i install the DE 7.2.2 extensions and packages in ePO server, does it override the existing DE 7.2.1 ?
if yes does that mean all the machines will be updated automatically in the next ePO/agent connection without any problem (like my users created in the User Directory not being recognized)
do i have to decrypt and uninstall DE from all the machines then update them to WIN10 1709 then install DE 7.2.2 ?
do i need to install DE 7.2.2 on all machines with WIN10 1703, then update them to 1709 ?
Thank you in advance .
Since you didn't leave your name, I'll call you Sara. Hi Sara, thanks for your posting. I think your timing is pretty good. See McAfee Corporate KB - How to upgrade the operating system to Windows 10, with Drive Encryption 7.2.1... which came out on Nov 14, 2017. It might help. This article provides the steps and scripts to support customers who want to upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update, on systems using DE 7.2.1 or later.

That link explains how to upgrade to Microsoft Windows 10 (version 1607), (version 1703), and (version 1709) but doesn’t address:
1. If i install the DE 7.2.2 extensions and packages in ePO server, does it override the existing DE 7.2.1
2. if yes does that mean all the machines will be updated automatically in the next ePO/agent connection without any problem (like my users created in the User Directory not being recognized)
I think McAfee has a long way to go in their product documentation.
Yes, it will override the de 7.2.1 extension if you only check in the extension, but it will still manage the 7.2.1 clients. It will not automatically update the clients, as the extension is only for epo backend support for the policies, tasks, etc. The clients will only get updated if you check in the packages also and set up a task to deploy it to the clients, which is not needed at this time unless the OS on the client will get upgraded. Then you can use the KB you were given for that.
