Updating password for service account running (local ePO server) and connection to database server

Jump to solution
I need to understand the process for changing the password for our service account that we have tied to our database server (Windows Authentication) for the local registered server configuration. I have changed passwords like this before and multiple things broke. Will this change need to be done through running the installer and inputting the password once I change the password in our Active Directory, or can the password be changed at the Registered Servers configuration page? We have thousands of endpoints that rely on this servers encryption, so I am hesitant and need to understand risk prior to changing.

First, identify as best as possible everywhere that account is used.  KB69850 tells you how to reset the password for epo.  It wouldn't hurt to check all the registered servers to make sure that account isn't used there either.  If you have agent handlers, follow KB75333 tells you how to change password for those servers.
