We did not renew our EPO license and I'm trying to uninstall the McAfee Agents from my Windows workstations.. The 5.5.0.447 Agents are running on Windows 10 devices. I've tried the following:
Stopping the service: Can't - it's greyed out
Running frminst.exe /remove=agent from the command prompt: doesn't work - it returns a path error
Located MFEagent_x64.msi, right click and tried to repair: Doesn't work
I've tried deleting the devices from the EPO console and selecting "remove agent on next agent-server communication". The device never shows up again even though the agent is still on the workstation and still communicating with the server (according to the logs I pull from the device itself).
I've tried creating a "tag" called remove agent and applying that according to this KB article. https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB92459&locale=en_US When I try to register a new executable (while logged into the server), it can't find the path.
If anyone has any suggestions I certainly would appreciate it. Nothing I'm doing seems to be working.

When running frminst, you have to make sure the command prompt is in the location where frminst file is located. Then you would use /forceuninstall.
Otherwise you can download the endpoint removal tool from the download site to remove products.

Thank you. The path is correct to the location of frminst.exe file, however, when I try to run it with the /forceuninstall switch, it returns a path error stating it cannot locate "MFEagent_x64.msi" in the C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Agent\ folder - even though that's where it's located. I'm running the cmd prompt "as administrator" and I've double checked permissions to that folder.
Can you share the link to the removal tool please? I don't have an active grant. Can I still download it or can someone email it to me please?
