Trying to Install the EPO 4.5 Agent using MDT 2012

Jump to solution

I'm trying to Install the EPO 4.5 Agent using MDT 2012?

I can install McAfee VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 with not issues but would like to install the agent without touching EPO 4.5
So far I have the following: -

@Echo Off
SET _thisdir=%~dp0
ECHO %~dp0

ECHO Installing McAfee 8.8
"%_thisdir%McAfeeVirusScan\SetupVSE.exe" ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVEINCOMPATIBLESOFTWARE=TRUE /qbn

ECHO Installing the EPO 4.5 Agent in Force Mode
"%_thisdir%McAfeeVirusScan\FramePkg.exe" /Install=Agent /SiteInfo=SiteList.xml

ECHO Obtaining Updates from EPO 4.5
"C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\mcupdate.exe" /update

but when the computer starts up the agent dose not start up and when I run the following CmdAgent.exe /s and look at the settings I do not get any agent ID.

Is their any way to automate this with out waiting for EPO or touching EPO? (too slow when installing allot of PC using MDT, don't have time for EPO to sync and push out clients in remote offices)?

The issue with the (M) is policy issue. Have you make sure that when you modifying a policy in ePO is applied in the client? If yes, make sure that the policy for McAfee agent "combine the icons in one" is active.

The sitelist i will have a look to see if I can provide you more info.

Regards,

Jose

Yes have tried: -

"%_thisdir%McAfeeVirusScan\FramePkg.exe" /Install=Agent /SiteInfo=SiteList.xml /forceinstall

I believe the agent has installed, other wise I would not be able to see the CmdAgent.exe /s but it dose not run and still have the (V) shield and not the (M) shield?

The SiteList.xml was taken from the Company EPO site along with the FramePkg.exe

What about if you try as a test to install without Sitelist?

Still only have the standalone VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 and not the agent?

Even though it is running in the background but dose not communicate with the server, so not Policies are collected?

Hi,

That is why I have suggested to install without sitelist. What you doing is installing VSE that will install the McAfee agent standalone (the one is embedded in the installation Package), so if you try to install the MA (Package created in ePO) without sitelist, we can check if the problema is the sitelist or not that I think the sitelist is the problem..

I get the same with removing /SiteInfo=SiteList.xml

I try clean installation later to see if that makes a difference?

to get the site list I done the following: -
Menu --> Software --> Master Repository

Actions --> Export Sitelist --> Save

but I take a look at the sitelist to see if any errors

So What happens if you install the Framepkg.exe on top of the installation without other switch?

Does it work?

Why don't you use Agent 4.8 or  5.1  instead of 4.5. In which Operating system are you trying to install agent 4.5. I would suggest to install Agent 4.8.0.1500(P2) or latest.

Not a option at the moment but we will be upgrading soon...
Dose MDT installation change that much from 4.5 to 4.8 or 5.1???
