System Name in Console Disappears

Jump to solution

A few weeks after upgrading to 5.10 Update 10 we started having this issue.  Our current Agent Version is 5.7.3.245 running on SQL 2014 and Windows 2012 R2.  One day all of a sudden ALL computers have dropped their system name on the epo console system tree.  System name is blank, but the system is still considered managed and all other information is displayed.  If you click on a row with no system name you get "An error occurred while retrieving the requested data.  If you do a Wake Up call the system name is displayed in the wake up page.  The wake up call will fail.  There are also systems showing as unmanaged but have the system name with no other details.  I found one that I knew which client it was based on the Agent GUID and did a wake up call on it, and it works.  If you create a New System and just add to System Tree, the system name will come back to the managed node and now can be managed and system wake ups work, the unmanaged still exists in the system tree as well.  Eventually, something happens and machines start to reappear, then something else happens and they start disappearing again.

The server_EPOServername.log has the following in it.

naSPIPE.cpp(338): Failed to connect to X.X.X.X:591, network error was 10060

AgentWakeup.cpp(206): Server failed to wake up 160.125.142.222, detailed error = -999

591 is our port for agent communication.

Right after this is in the log.

org.bouncycastle.tls.TlsFatalAlert: bad_certificate(42)

The 3 solutions I found were about setting the Default Language in SQL, the Compatibility Level setting in SQL, and the description field in computer properties exceeding 120 characters.  None of these have helped as they were all set correctly.

Then you have none installed yet.  That column is added when you run one of the cumulative updates.

Have you checked to see if https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB94596 applies?

We upgraded from 5.9.1 straight to 5.10 update 10.

The script produced 803699. (Curious what this indicates)

Update 10 is not included in the base install of epo.  Did you run the update 10 updater package separately?

This is from kb90876 -

Solution 2

ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 Update 1 was released to support to resolve this issue. This release has now been superseded by a later cumulative ePO 5.10 update release.

The latest ePO 5.10.0 Update is available from the Product Downloads site.

Again, this wouldn't apply as we are on update 10.
