SNS ProTip for ePO: McAfee Agent reports an unexpected system name for Mac OS X endpoints
Mac OS X clients that are managed by ePO may report an unexpected system name to ePO. For example, the client may display as hostname.local instead of the FQDN of the system.
This issue occurs because Mac OS X is unable to resolve unicast DNS names or bind to Active Directory domains that end in .local. Because of this issue, when the McAfee Agent uses the sysctl function to retrieve host names it sends an unexpected name to the ePO server. For more information on resolving the issue, see KB83737 (https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB83737).
