Not seeing all updates

Jump to solution
In Software Manager McAfee Endpoint Security Adaptive Threat Protection 10.6 Available Updates shows 20 but when I click on the link to Check-in or download, or update only 3 are available. This is also the same for other available updates.

Sometimes it is referencing individual items in a bundle, so you have to click on the bundle name to identify the ones that need updated.  Also, if you have a new and old version checked in, it will show the older versions as needing updated, even though you have newer checked in also.  That is because the old one is still there.  If you aren't using the older versions, you can remove them from the master repository to get rid of some of those.

Re: Not seeing all updates

Hi,
Let me just first say, that the Software Manager, is not perfect. In the old days, there was no Software Manager. We just checked on-line or looked at our email to see if an update was available. Then we had to install it manually. Extensions, then Master Repository separately. Personally, I never really trusted it, and more often than not, I check on-line anyway. I have ePO send me an eMail when a new product is available in the software Manager. Then, I do my due diligence and check manually to confirm the information.

As for the issue you describe. Don't fret. I see it too.  6 updates available for ATP 10.6, yet, when I drill down, nothing!

I've seen this sort of thing before. I hazard to guess that in this particular instance, the 10.6 is actually referencing the 10.7 software, which, I see lists 4 updates on my ePO. And then, guess what? I drill into that one and see nothing also. This issue also seems to come up a lot, when there is only a "Bundle" available and no individual products in the Manager.

The main difference between our two issues is "I don't really care". I am not really sure why the Software Manager is not fully reliable. I suspect because there are multiple engineers that service it, and sometimes get their wires crossed. its function or non-function does not affect the operation of ePO or the effectiveness of the installed products. which, are my main concerns.

My advice: Just let it go. Save your stress for something like 50% of your systems reporting "Unable to find a valid repository" Fun times.

Cheers!
