McAfee Engine deployment.

Jump to solution

Hello, I have set up the EPO server to deploy the agent to the clients.

I have added the latest engine to the master repository.

How do I deploy the agent to the clients, I cant see under systems? I have synched the server but when I check on the client there is no engine.

Grateful for your assistance.

Dave.

Hello @DaveSmith999

Thanks for your response.

Agent is a medium to communicate from client machine to epo server.

The agent is installed via the systems tree and the engine will not show up in programs and features? I expected to see the engine in there too.

No, This is not true.

In the Systray there is a McAfee icon - see attached.
This will show you the installed product on the machine.

So when the agent is installed as long as the engine is in the repository, the engine will be deployed to the client?
No, This is not true.

If there is no AV it will not be available on the machine.

Hello @DaveSmith999

Thanks for your response.

I would like to inform you that for deploying an agent to a client machine :

System Tree-Select System-Actions (Bottom Left Side)-Actions-Deploy Agent-Credentials and deploy it.

Once the Agent will deployed successfully it will report to the ePO with properties from client machine.

Make sure you Endpoint Security (AV) is available on the client machine.

For engine please refer below KB:

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB92669

From The KB:

NOTE: During the throttle period, if a new system has a fresh product installation, it always takes the new engine version, never the old one. (A fresh product installation is one not from an upgrade.)

You wanted to deploy 'McAfee agent' or 'scan Engine'.  Screenshot is from Scan engine.

Scan engine can be pushed to client machine if have AV installed on it through 'Product update task'->select Engine in it.

For MA deployment, please follow Vivek's suggestions.
