Is disabling UAC really required

Reading the ePO backup and restore kb66616 and it says to disable UAC when restoring. Is this really required as the environment I work in will not allow this. Is there a workaround?

Re: Is disabling UAC really required

We have definitely seen issues when UAC is enabled, most commonly when trying to regenerate the certificates. This is why we recommend the "restore from DR snapshot" method of disaster recovery as described in KB 87976.

In an ideal world of course you can do both: run the DR snapshot task and then take a full DB backup, and then additionally take a manual backup of the files as per KB 66616. That way if for any reason the restore-from-snapshot fails you still have the manual process available.
