Error when Saving Linux Policy in ePO 5.10 U3

Jump to solution

I have a fresh install of ePO 5.10 U3.  Nothing else is installed on this box.  When trying to create a new Policy for Linux, I get an error if I try to modify it.  In the orion.log file, there is a message

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/mcafee/epo/policy/services/EPOPolicyServices with a pointer to lynxshldpackage.ManagePolicy.SAvePolicy(ManagePolicy.java:146)

Is this just a corrupt package?  Any ideas on how to resolve?

Please refer to KB90383 - VSEL is not supported on epo 5.10, so you will need to upgrade your product to ENS for Linux.

What is the point product you are trying to modify the policy for and the extension version checked in for it?

We are trying to exclude certain directories from scanning.  When I try to save when entering those exclusions, the policy fails with the above errors.

VSEL 1.9.2 / 2.0.3

version 2.0.3.1757 for the extension version

Does that allow me to put scanning exclusions in?  What extension is needed for that?

Thanks!

Endpoint security for Linux is not the same product as VirusScan for Linux.  You can go to the software catalog in epo and check in the extensions and product for it, but you will also have to upgrade your clients to ENS instead of VSEL.  You can't managed VSEL with ENS policies.

I understood that, I just did not realize that you put the exclusions in the same place for a windows machine or a linux machine in the Endpoint Security Threat Protection setting.

Thanks for your help!
