Epo Upgrade from 5.3.1 to 5.10 (Some questions need to clarify)

Dear Community,

I for a long time trying to investigate Upgrading plan (or steps) the Epo server from 5.3.1 to 5.10.

The Epo server (with Agent) manage 85 clients. The DB is MSSQL Express (free 10GB).

The Extensions of the Server are below :

1 ePolicy Orchestrator version is 5.3.1.188

2 Mcafee Agent version 5.0.3.141

3 Product Improvement Program version is 1.6.0.399

4 Advanced Reporting 5.5.0.3

5 SIARevocation version is 1.0

6 VSE version is 8.8.0.412

7 VSEL version is 2.0.2.1737

Please, Have yo any informations relates VSEL. Because as l know the new version 5.10 doesn't support VSEL. is this TRUE?

Whisch steps need to upgrade the version CONCRETELY?

Best Regards,

Tabriz

Re: Epo Upgrade from 5.3.1 to 5.10 (Some questions need to clarify)

KB90383 lists supported extensions for epo 5.10 including any updates up to update 9.

KB94079 lists supported extensions for epo 5.10 starting with update 10 or later.

Keep in mind, the epo installer is always a base install with no updates.  Any updates applied will need to be installed separately and they are cumulative.

VSEL reaches end of life the end of this year, so you need to consider moving to ENS for Linux anyway.

KB51569 also is the KB for supported environments for epo (db and os versions supported, etc).

KB51519 lists the tls/cipher requirements for epo 5.10, as they are stricter than 5.3.  You need to ensure the version of sql you are running supports tls 1.2.  Please be familiar with the different sections in that KB.

For sql express, you need to ensure there will be sufficient space available since it has a 10g limit.  Depending on the number of clients you are managing, you may need to consider moving it to a full sql server to avoid running out of space - especially since 5.1 creates a separate events database.
