Epo Migration 5.10 question

Hi Folks,

I hope everybody is doing ok during this situation, I have a question, I'm moving from ePO 5.3.2 to version 5.10, also moving to a newer server, but I can not move SQL yet from older server to newer one. so my question will be, if it is OK to install my ePO, create a test SQL, move policies, task, product extension, etc and when everything is like a mirror, Can I move my SQL Database info and reconnect my ePO already configure to this SQL? Thanks in advance.

Re: Epo Migration 5.10 question

Can you clarify a little more what you want to do?  You can upgrade without moving db as long as the version of sql is supported by epo 5.10 and as long as it has hotfixes that support tls 1.2.  You can then just move the db to new server when you are ready to, so it isn't clear what you are trying to accomplish.  From the initial sound of what you are planning, no.

Re: Epo Migration 5.10 question

Hi Cdinet, here comes what I'm try to accomplish.

This is my environment right now

I have a window 2008 R2 running ePO version 5.3.2 and an SQL 2008 in a different physical server, everything is under production right now.

And I need to move on to this:

Install ePO (5.10) at new server Win2016 and SQL is already installed but we haven’t moved yet the database info, So I’m trying to figure out what is the best way to move forwards.

Re: Epo Migration 5.10 question

Hello @pabrodri17

Thanks for your response.

One ePO one database.

If you are going to install the ePO 5.10 then there should be different database.

so, Install new ePO with new database.

Once done export the policies from old epo and get that imported in your new epo.

Once new ePO is installed you can perform the system tree transfer.

Other thing you can do it is , Try to upgrade your SQL on the same machine to the supported one with the ePO 5.10

Once SQL is upgraded please upgrade the epo and do s disaster recovery to different Server and then move the database as well.

Please have a back up of the ePO server and ePO database before making any changes.
