ENS 10.6.1.x & May Patch from evaluation branch

Hello,

We've checked the ENS 10.6.1 May Patch into the Evaluation Branch of our ePO server to be able to test the effect on a couple of test computers.

We've created a TAG which has a modified Agent Policy to pull the updates from the Evaluation Branch.

This scenario works perfectly but there are about 100 computers that also got the Patch without having the TAG and the default Agent Policy looks for update in the Current and not the Evaluation.

Global updating is disabled and all policies have been checked on content to be sure that there isn't another policy that triggers this.

At random times a few additional computers get the patch installed.

Has anyone encounter this or does anyone have any idea how it's possible because we didn't notice this behaviour with previous ENS en VSE?

Re: ENS 10.6.1.x & May Patch from evaluation branch

Can you confirm there are none of the patches in current branch?  For one of the systems that did get the patch that shouldn't have, go to that system in epo, then actions, directory, view applied policies and validate it has the correct agent policy applied.

Otherwise the mcscript log will show which branch it pulled the updates from.

Re: ENS 10.6.1.x & May Patch from evaluation branch

- The hotfix has been checked into the evaluation branch and no other ENS patch is available in the current.

- The default Agent Policy, updates from current branch, is active on the computer that got this patch automatically installed.

- The mcscript.log and mcscript_backup.log are newly created everyday so I can't go a few days back to see which repository is used, I'll try to find a mcscript.log on a computer that got the update today. I found the log of the installation of the patch as c:\windows\temp\McAfeeLogs\McAfee_Common_CustomAction_Install_052119_072152.log and found the following entries :

21/05/2019 07:22:53.45 [6348] [GenericCustomAction] McAfee CustomAction : Begin Backup_15_7_Or_Above_VSCore

So what I would check next is the masvc log for that time frame to see exactly what task was invoked.  Your logs should contain more than one day of data if you aren't in debug mode.  Otherwise you can increase log sizes in the agent policy and rollover count to get more historical data.
