Disable default auto-update task for offsite machines?

Jump to solution

We have a lot of laptops that get used in the office and out of the office.  Obviously we want EPO on those machines (okay, the McAfee Agent) for 4.5 EPO.

We have a list of repositories and update tasks defined already.

Now, when the PC is offset (say at home or elsewhere), it does not have the ability to contact the EPO server, but I believe it will cache the configuration and tasks.

Assuming it caches the tasks and will adhere to the schedule, is there any reason to use the default auto-update task?

Not really - as long as another task is scheduled and running, then the default task can be safely disabled. Local users will still be able to do an "Update Now" task (assuming you have allowed them to in the agent policy.)

Great, thanks.  I thought as much but wanted a sanity check.
