i had to struggle a lot to get this done, finally i managed to get this running.

If you have Linux Server and you are looking for steps to install McAFee agent on it. Please find the attached document with screenshot.

Additional FYI: How to use command line switches with McAfee Agent (KB52707)

for RedHat based systems, you can do "service cma status" also.

Installation: sh install.sh -i

Log file location: /var/McAfee/agent/logs/ 

Agent Status: /etc/init.d/ma status OR service cma status shows McAfee agent status. 

/etc/init.d/ma <start|stop|restart|status|basedir|configdir|reload SOFTWAREID|unload SOFTWAREID> 

Wakeup and other commands: 

/opt/McAfee/cma/bin/cmdagent <-p | -e | -c | -f | -i | -h | -l >

How many of /opt/McAfee/agent/bin/macompatsvc self_start supposed to run. I see 8 of them.

The macompatsvc is single process what you are seeing are all macompatsvc threads. The number of threads can vary. In Linux, threads are listed as process that's why it list many processes, but if you look into that the parent of all process are same. These are threads and perfectly normal.
