Re: Dat files Auto Download

To get the dats installed on the clients it's normally a multi-step process.

1. You create a server task to pull the dat files from the McAfee http or ftp sites into the Master repository.

2. You create a replication task to replicate the dats to any distributed repositories you may have.

3. In the Agent policy you specify which repositories client machines will use.

4. You create a client update task to tell the clients when to get their updates.

If necessary you can then use 'global updating' to trigger all of those steps in one go.

Global updating is a 'I-need-to-press-the-big-red-button-now' kind of thing though, normally you would use scheduled tasks. Global updating can be hard on bandwidth.

I recommend you review the product guide with a strong coffee in hand, the detail is all in there.

You will also find relevant video tutorials on the service portal website:

On the same site is access to the McAfee Knowledge base, in the knowledge base there are also 'how-to' guides and useful articles on managing ePO.
