Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

Hi all,

One of our clients (a Windows Server 2016 VM with oodles of RAM etc) is having issues in installing the ENS 10.7 Feb 2020 Update.

The estate have ePO 5.9.1 along with a bunch of McAfee products including ENS with ATP, a mix of 10.6.1, 10.7.0. This particular system was upgrading from an earlier version of ENS, although the system properties only reports that DXL and the McAfee Agent are installed.

The deployment task is tag-based and the masvc_hostname.log does provide some clues, as seen below on lines 3154 - 3157 from an extract of this log (broken down into 4 parts). There were no corresponding entries however, in the McScript.log.

Extract from masvc_hostname.log (p1)Extract from masvc_hostname.log (p1)

We asked the customer to collect the logs etc by running a MER on the system. Below is a snippet showing what logs were collected in respect of the McAfee Agent.

Look forward to hearing from you, guys & girls! 🙂

Re: Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

Hello Nick_B

At that point we need to see the mcscript_deploy.log and see further details regarding that deployment

Do you have that MER? can you send it to me as a private message?

Re: Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

Hi,

I'm afraid there is no mcscript_deploy.log so I guess the deployment and update task info is all contained in the McScript.log but there's nothing in there of any relevance, at least as far as I can tell.

The MER log is around 185MB.... I can send it through the private messaging system if it can handle that?

Thanks!

Re: Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

we can certainly try, i have never tried to be honest 🙂 if you can’t, could you take a look at the mfemactl log and see if there are any references there in regards to the process mcscript_inuse.exe

if there are do you mind pasting here one of those lines?

Re: Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

Hi,

OK, I'll see if I can get it uploaded into the PM area.

By the way, there is no mfemactl log either (I did look for that one).

Speak soon!

Hi @aguevara

Did you receive the MER file OK?

Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Thanks!

Re: Client Deployment Task Failing on Some Systems

Hi,

Thanks for looking into the MER, that was appreciated.

As the logs reference a reboot being required I have asked the user of the system if they could arrange for it to be rebooted, just in case that helps.

By the way, where did you find the mcscript_deploy log, I couldn't see that listed in the MER?
