Over the past few weeks I have been using our new EPO 10.7 to deploy McAfee Agent 5.6.6 successfully to many machines in our organization, however a small handful are not working. I'm currently trying to push a new agent to one machine, and keep getting the following error:
10/23/20 9:31:48 AM | Failed to authenticate with remote system, system error: The network path was not found. |
10/23/20 9:33:03 AM | Expired. The task will be stopped. |
I can perform a PING successfully to this machine from EPO 10.7, as well as nslookup from the EPO server itself (Windows Server 2016,) which points to the correct IP. I'm not sure what else to do to diagnose the issue.
Thanks

Hello
This error message happen when the ePO server is not able to communicate with the remote client.
Please check the following KB about the connection requirements of the ePO and the client:
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB66797
Maybe the SMB port is blocked on that VLAN where you would like to delploy the agent.
Log in to the ePO server via mstc and try to reach the admin$ of the client. If its not working you wont be able to deploy agent on the remote client.
If its working , I suggest you to intsall wireshark on your epo server , start the capture and try to deploy the agent again and analyse the logs.
If the remote client is using VPN I suggest for you to the following "vendor id" registration.

Are the systems you are trying to push to on vpn? If so, that won't work, as it is a natted address. You have to be able to get to admin$ from the epo server to the client and have rights to write to that directory and execute files and access registry.

The issue turned out to be DNS - we had several records for the same IP. Once the stale entries were removed I attempted to push and it worked.
I confirmed the issue first by attempting to access the admin share on one of the workstations. When it failed, I checked DNS to see what IP it was resolving to.
Thank you everyone who replied.
