Automatically remove Tags from systems after an install/upgrade

Hello,

In our environment we use Tags for installing and upgrading software, ideally I would like to automatically remove the Tag once the task has been completed as the agent seems to attempt to install/upgrade every time it communicates with the ePO. Is there an option to do just that? Or will it require a custom Server Task to be created?

Many Thanks

Re: Automatically remove Tags from systems after an install/upgrade

Via criteria based TAGs

e.g. ENS deployment task:

The deployment of ENS via the TAG: Deploy_ENS_May_hotfix but not systems with ENS 10.7 May update installed

client task.png

The ENS 10.7 Installed TAG based on the product build numbers and also evaluate on each agent communication

You can do this for all the products in ePO 5.10

Thanks for the reply and apologies for not stating that I am using version 5.9.1. Should the option be available on the older version as well?

no the criteria based TAGs are new since ePO 5.10

See the release notes of ePO 5.10

Tagging based on product properties

You can now tag systems using product properties; for example, the product or DAT version.

Re: Automatically remove Tags from systems after an install/upgrade

Hello @Linuxxo

Thanks for your post.

I would like to inform you that if the product is already available on the client machine and taks triggers again in that case Agent will compare the mcs file and if present it will skip it..

To clear the tag you can try creating the server task having clear tag option from sub-actions and might be that would work for you.

For creating a Server Task create a query  and make the changed in the Server Task>Sub-Actions.

Whenever making any changes please make sure that you have the back up available of the ePO Server and ePO Database with the help of KB66616.

Re: Automatically remove Tags from systems after an install/upgrade

To clear tag,

1. you need to create query from 'Query and Report' and save it.

2. Create server task. Action->Run query->Under query, select the query you created for the machines where you wanted to clear Tag.

3. Under sub action, select 'clear tag' and select the tag.

4. Run/schedule the server task
