Agent upgrade from ePO to different drive than default

Hi,

I'm going to upgrade the McAfee agent from 5.6.2 to 5.6.4 on number of systems with the help of a client task from ePO. But I want to install the agent on D:\ drive and not in default drive. Can any one please suggest me how I can proceed. If possible kindly provide the steps in detail.

Please check the below Screenshot:

Try sending Deploy agent on one machine first and check.

Later you can go ahead and perform on rest of the machines.

Specifies the installation folder on the system. You can use Windows system variables, such as <SYSTEM_DRIVE>. If not specified, the default location is: <DRIVE>: \program files\mcafee\Agent Example: FRAMEPKG /INSTALL=AGENT /INSTDIR=C:\ePOAgent

If you are upgrading with the help of client task >  product deployment task then it will upgrade to same directory where you previous MA is but if you do 'Force install over existing version' (like in the screenshot) then you can specify non default Installation path.

Hi, Thank you for the replies..

I tried to deploy with the force installation process but it can help to change the directory only in the same C:\ drive but with that option i'm not able to change the drive . Like i want to install the agent in D:\ drive.

in a client task i tried with the command  "FRAMEPKG /INSTALL=AGENT /DATADIR=D:\AgentData" but no result.

Client Task will not change the directory .

Can you please post the screenshot while deploying with Deploy Agent Option Force Installation.

Hi Vivs,

When I'm trying with the below option it is creating a new folder with the specified name on the same drive (c:\) and installing the agent. The previous agent is also present on the same drive and in default location.

When I'm pushing through client task with the command " FRAMEPKG /INSTALL=AGENT /INSTDIR=D:\ePOAgent" it is showing as completed but there is no installation on D:\ drive.

The MA install guide (docs.mcafee.com) gives some parameters for installing to different directory.  You can also use the smartinstaller to change paths with a forceinstall.  data path is only for logging and not the install directory.  The /instdir is what you want to set:

/INSTDIR Specifies the installation folder on the system. You can use Windows system variables,
such as <SYSTEM_DRIVE>. If not specified, the default location is: <DRIVE>: \program
files\mcafee\Agent
Example: FRAMEPKG /INSTALL=AGENT /INSTDIR=C:\ePOAgent

In your case, if agent is already installed, you would need forceinstall and you can change drive/path to whatever you desire.
