Siteadvisor seems incompatible with IE 11

Jump to solution

My WIn8 was upgraded to Win 8.1, and the IE10 was upgraded to IE11.

When I use IE, it open slowly and the siteadvisor toolbar disappear.

And it also can not see any icon in the search results (google search or yahoo search).

I stop the siteadvisior, th IE open quickly.

I  use Mcafee Internet security, the version of siteadvisor is 3.6 (3.6.3.549). (Affld:714)

How can I resolve this problem?

Thanks!

It works fine in my 8.1 Pro's IE11, same version of SA.

Maybe contact Technical Support for assistance via the link under Useful Links at the top of this page.

It's free of charge.

One thought though, when doing a major upgrade such as 8 to 8.1 it's wise to at least disable your protection as it may get corrupted, but I find it best to uninstall (as previously when installing Service Packs with other OS's).

Try uninstalling via Control Panel > Programs and Features

Then run the MCPR Cleanup Tool, reboot and reinstall from your online account.

I've had the same problem with SA icon greyed out having recently upgraded to Win 8.1 & IE 11. Had online chat with McAfee tech guy, he took over my machine fiddled about a bit then seemed to do an update and it worked fine searching with Google and Bing. However, on reboot problem has reappeared. I then downloaded MVT which highlighted and fixed some registry problems and indicated that SA was okay! Still not though.

Ex_Brit, thanks!

I don't know why!

You can not only uninstall Mcafee Internet Security, you should also run the MCPR Cleanup Tool, reboot and reinstall from your online account.

I uninstall and reinstall 3 times without run MCPR, the siteadvisor works abnormally.  Finally I run MCPR, the siteadvisor goes back.

There's something being left behind that MCPR seems to pick up which usually cures whatever the problem is.

Glad it's OK now.
