Re: Problem with safe sites icons

Jump to solution

addendum:

just downloaded latest webadvisor freom mcafee site and see that it's listed as version 4.0.5.139

HOWEVER, in Total Protection I see the build is 4.0.6.137   [apologies, typo said 6.17 instead of correct 6.137]

not sure why the discrepancy, and also the add-on in firefox always has a different ver no. listed... right now it says 5.0.540.0

thank you for any suggestions,

ac

thanks.  i'll try switching to 32 bit and see if works for me as well; however, my recollection is last time with earlier version , iworked for you as well and it took the newer one to do so for me.

My guess, appears as if McAfee can't keep up w/FF changes.

Re: Problem with safe sites icons

some time ago there was opened this topic about reduced features of WA in IE11

there was made a service document about this with Antivirus Software and Internet Security For Your PC or Mac | McAfee

i noticed that download scanning in IE11 is being restored again as mentioned in this document.

i remember that secure search with annotations was no longer being displayed.

However, if you accidentally surf to a site that McAfee WebAdvisor considers dangerous, you will still be directed to a warning "block" page.

for more info on typosquatting you could see on TS102572

as an example was mentioned www.edby.com or www.ebdy.com

however if i do this mistypo today in IE11 to see if it still works, i don't see this warning "block"page anymore........

current version of WA installed is 4.0.6.146

does WA considers these websites not dangerous anymore perhaps ?......
