Can not install Site Advisor Plus

Hello,
I am experiencing problems with installing the SiteAdvisor Plus component.
I have the Mcafee Total Protection (3 users) pack.
When installing it on a machine that previously had the 2007 version (with the the Mcafee Site Advisor included) all goes well, but the SiteAdvisor Plus is not installing. Instead we have the Mcafee SiteAdvisor in the Firefox, and nothing in Internet Explorer.

I had no problems to install it on a 'clean' laptop (the second computer). There I can see that there is a 'Site Advisor' windows service installed, which does not happens on the first machine.
When i go to my online Mcafee profile, there I can download again and again the Site Advisor component, then it says it is installing - and nothing changes.
The virtual technician also does helps.

Any ideas how to overcome this?

RE: Additional info

Did you remove the previous version first via Control Panel/Add or Remove?

I do not remember

Frankly speaking - I do not remember. I am 95% sure that the answer is yes. It was some 20 days ago - after uninstalling the 2007 version I tried a demo products from Trend Micro that came with the router - but I was not happy with it and decided to switch back to Mcafee.

RE: I do not remember

XP SP2 I assume. Try uninstalling SA in the normal manner. If it isn't listed separately in Add/Remove then click the McAfee Security Center item and select only SA for removal.
Reboot and reinstall, see if that helps.

RE: I do not remember

By the way, make sure this isn't simply a case of SiteAdvisor not being checked in the browser add-on list. Right-click the top toolbar of IE7 to make sure.

RE: I do not remember

yes - it is SP2.
Already tried the uninstall and then installing again (even cleaned the registry). No efect.
By the way in is listed separately in the 'Add/remove programs" window.

RE: I do not remember

I also checked if it is enabled in the IE7 'Add-onns' window. The strange fact is that it is not creating the windows service (as it does on the laptop).
