web gateway 7 - vmware

Jump to solution

I'm setting up a virtual machine for web gateway 7 so I can start to test it.

What guest OS do I need to run it? I currently have red hat linux 5 (64-bit) installed on that virutal machine. Will this version work?

Thanks

Hello,

what I am using - Other Linux 64bit. This usually works.

35G disk min. 2048 Ram.

35 G  disk, simply because then the cache gets its own partition - makes it faster.

best,

Michael

Good day,

when I restarted mwg ( /etc/init.d/mwg restart ) I got a message "Unable to find cache partition. Cache data will be written to McAfee Web Gateway partition." Is it an error?

Thank you.

No, if there is no seperate partition for cache it will be written into the same filesystem that MWG resides in. This should be fine.

I am testing mwg 7.2.  I was just told by McAfee support, mwg could not be installed in Hyper-V VM.  So I am going to try vmware.  I don't want to buy vmware, I will try to install on vmware esxi.  Can it be done?

Yes. ESXi is a supported platform.

You can also try VMware server.

Hi,

I already know that MWG7 is supported in VMware environment, however as far as I know, al 7.x versions for not 100% supported in virtual environment. Transparent mode was not fully working in vmware. Are there any differences in 7.2 version ?

Regards,
Gregor

Hi.

I tested the transparent mode with v 7.2.0 and it seems to be working fine.

Is there anything specific that's not working?
