sending protocol data to SIEM via access log

Hi,

we are forwarding events to Archsight SIEM using access log, and we wish to add the value of te protocol that is used (http, ftp, etc..).

today the log header looks like this:

"

time_stamp "auth_user" src_ip status_code "req_line" "categories" "rep_level" "media_type" bytes_to_client bytes_from_client "user_agent" "virus_name" "block_res" "application_name"

"

what paramater do we need to add in order to send protocol data?

Re: sending protocol data to SIEM via access log

Hi,

Hope you are doing well.

URL.Protocol is the parameter to be used for the same.

You need to add URL.Protocol in access.log settings first by navigating to option Policy-> Log Handler-> Access.Log.

You can refer below links for reference for modifying access.log:-

https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Documents/Web-Gateway-Understanding-Customized-Logging-and-Log-File/...

https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Documents/EOL-Web-Reporter-Adding-a-custom-Log-Field-to-your-Reports...

Below is an example after adding URL.Protocol in access.log on my MWG:-

#time_stamp "auth_user" src_ip status_code "req_line" "categories" "rep_level" "media_type" bytes_to_client bytes_from_client "user_agent" "virus_name" "block_res" "application_name" "protocol"

Also if you are forwarding the same access.log to CSR then you need to make necesaary changes in CSR log source as well.
