named.conf

Is there any way to change the /etc/named.conf without beeing overwritten in case of changing any DNS related config in GUI?

We would like to use the proxy as dns server also. I can add the listening interface and any to allow-query port. Than proxy acts as expected.

But this changes will be gone after any configuration change.

Re: named.conf

Hi Frank,

I didnt see a way. There isnt a named.conf in the File Editor like there is for the hosts or resolv.conf files.

I'm fairly certain this was done by design in case BIND had any vulnerabilities -- by only listening locally we're able to control the attack surface.

Best Regards,

Jon

Re: named.conf

If someone has an interest in permanently modifying this file (at least until the next upgrade), you may have a look in the script /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mwg-config/configs/netcfg.rb. Search there for named. conf. Modify it for you need.

Then "service mwg restart" and then do change to the DNS setup using the GUI. This will recreate named. conf.

Everything at your own risk.....  :-)
