https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB73797&cat=CONFIGURATION&actp=LIST may be of interest.
In addition to https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-5207 which I think may answer the question directly.
Andre: I've been told that config restore isn't possible before, I lodged my concerns with product management, and was told that indeed some config restore functionality was indeed available that went beyond just policy. I think the relatively recent https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-5207 is perhaps what kcmusa might be looking for.
on 10/21/13 5:45:38 PM CDTYou should be able to make a backup on the Troubleshooting tab, and restore that to the other appliance in the same place. What kind of error message are you getting?
I setup new appliance (4500 ver 4000) and wanted to just move over full config.
There was an error when I unchecked the box (only restore policy) something like UIC not found
When I left the box checked it imported the policies and then I hade too set IPs and other items.
Hello,
you need to set the configuration again. It is not possible to restore IP addresses etc. Only the policy can be restored on different hardware.
Best,
Andre

on 10/21/13 5:45:38 PM CDTAh... that is good to know. There are approximately a dozen ways to modify the backups UUID or change the appliances UUID etc etc, but I wasn't aware that there is a supported procedure now. That is good. Thank you for letting me know 🙂
Best,
Andre
Thanks, that is what i was looking for.
My config was not to large and I did just end up restoring the rules and hard coding the IP and other info.
