Website displaying internal IP address

Jump to solution

Hi All,

A webside (http://www.dnsstuff.com/) is displaying the internal IP address of a system when it is going through our webgateway. If the system is not going through the webgateway, the site displays the public IP address of the router (as expected). Does anyone know how I can change this so that when going through the webgateway this website will display the public IP, and not my private IP address?

Thanks,

Brian

This is caused by the proxy header "x-forwarded-for" you will need to strip it in your rules. See the following community discussion:

web browsers don't usually display them. Two people in different parts of the world often obtain different IP addresses for the same site even if they use the same lookup methods. Using Ping. The ping utility can be used to look up IP addresses of websites and any other kind of running network device.for the info regarding printer or while facing any technical issue just go to the

I was also having the same issue due to some malware. The issue was resolved by an antivirus. You can download geek squad webroot antivirus for help.
