Webgateway parent proxy ssl termination / authentication issue

Jump to solution

Hello,

I have setup consisting of two web gateways, the second one being parent to the first. SSL termination and inspection is performed at second (parent) gateway.

[users]---[1st Gateway]---[2nd Gateway]--[Internet]

Authenication is performed at first gateway, credentials base64 encoded and inserted into http header (x-authenticated-user).

Second gateway decodes credentials from http header, and uses them in ruleset.

This works for http, but not for https. Logs at first gateway show that authentication is not bein performed for https, just CONNECT to destination address.

Can I configure this setup without moving SSL inspection to internal gateway?

Thanks,

Hello,

the "caching" of authentication data in this case is valid for the connection. The CONNECT is authenticated and all the GETs/POSTs that are coming after the initial CONNECT are authenticated until the last request is processed and the client/server closes the connection.

Best,

Andre

Event Set Authentication.IsAuthenticated=true did the trick.

Seems that initial authentication is 'persisted' in this way for following request.

Wonder how long this caching lasts.
